Setting up the Trex IPTV app on a smart TV with the remote control

Choose your device

  • Smart TV

Samsung, LG and other connected TVs, with an IPTV player app from the TV’s store.

  • Fire TV Stick

A small HDMI stick that turns almost any TV into a smart one in minutes.

  • Android TV box

Android TV boxes and TVs running Android TV or Google TV, often with an Ethernet port.

  • iPhone and iPad

Watch in any room or on the move with a player app from the App Store.

  • Android phone

Phones and tablets with a player app from the Play Store.

  • PC and Mac

Windows and macOS computers with a desktop IPTV player.

  • IPTV apps

Many popular IPTV player apps can be used. We tell you which one suits your device.

Trex TV plays through an IPTV player app, so setup is the same three moves on every device: install a player, add your login, and let the channel list load. The steps below are numbered for each type of device. If a menu on your screen looks different, send us a photo on WhatsApp and we will guide you.

Trex IPTV setup: before you start

Check these four things first and the rest goes quickly:

  • Your login details. We send them on WhatsApp, for your free trial or after you order.
  • Your device is up to date. Install any pending system updates and restart it.
  • Your connection. A cable to the router is best; otherwise use 5 GHz Wi-Fi close to the router.
  • Your time zone. Set the correct date, time and time zone so the TV guide shows the right times.

Fire TV Stick

  1. Plug the stick into an HDMI port and connect its power adapter to a wall socket, not a USB port on the TV.
  2. Select the right HDMI input on your TV and follow the on-screen setup, including Wi-Fi.
  3. Open Settings, then My Fire TV, then About, and install any updates.
  4. Go back to the home screen and search for the player app we recommended in the chat.
  5. Download and open the app, then choose to add a playlist or subscription.
  6. Enter your login details exactly as sent, including capital letters.
  7. Wait for the channels and TV guide to load, then add your favourite channels to a favourites list.

For screenshots described in words and fixes for common snags, read our Fire TV Stick setup guide.

Smart TV (Samsung and LG)

  1. Press the Home button on the remote and open the app store (Apps on Samsung, the store tile on LG).
  2. Search for the player app we recommended for your model.
  3. Install and open it.
  4. Note any MAC address or device key shown on screen and send us a photo, if the app asks for one; we link your login to the TV.
  5. Otherwise, enter your login details directly in the app.
  6. Let the channel list and guide load the first time, which can take a minute or two.

The Smart TV guide covers picture settings and older models in more detail.

Android TV and Android boxes

  1. Connect the box by HDMI and, if it has one, use the Ethernet port.
  2. Sign in to the Play Store during the first setup and install system updates.
  3. Open the Play Store and search for the recommended player app.
  4. Install it, open it and add your login.
  5. Set the display resolution in the box’s settings to match your TV: 4K for a 4K TV, 1080p for a Full HD TV.
  6. Turn on automatic frame-rate matching if your box offers it, to reduce judder on films.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open the App Store and search for the player app named in our message.
  2. Install it and open it.
  3. Copy your login details from the WhatsApp chat and paste them into the app to avoid typing mistakes.
  4. Wait for the channel list to load, then test a channel on Wi-Fi first.
  5. Use screen mirroring if you want the picture on a compatible TV, although an app on the TV itself is smoother.

Android phones and tablets

  1. Open the Play Store and install the recommended player app.
  2. Paste your login details from WhatsApp into the app.
  3. Allow the app to run in the background if your phone asks, so playback does not stop when the screen dims.
  4. Choose a lower quality on mobile data to save your allowance; video uses a lot of data.

PC and Mac

  1. Download a desktop IPTV player for Windows or macOS from a trusted source we suggest.
  2. Install and open it, then add a new playlist or subscription.
  3. Enter your login details.
  4. Connect the computer by cable if you watch for long periods; laptops on battery-saving modes can drop frames.

IPTV player apps

Many popular IPTV player apps can be used with your login. We recommend one for your device because menus, features and app-store availability differ between models and countries. Before you install anything:

  • Use your device’s official app store or a source we have named.
  • Avoid “free channel” apps or modified files from random websites; they can carry malware.
  • Check the app’s catch-up and TV guide support if those features matter to you.

Fixing common setup problems

  1. “Invalid login” or authorization error. Re-enter the details carefully; one wrong character is enough. If it persists, send us a screenshot.
  2. The TV guide is empty. Refresh the guide in the app and check the device’s time zone.
  3. The picture pauses every few minutes. Move closer to the router, switch to 5 GHz, or use a cable. Restart the router and the device.
  4. The app closes or freezes. Clear its cache, uninstall unused apps to free space, and restart the device.
  5. No sound or out-of-sync sound. Check the audio output setting on the TV or box, and the audio-delay setting in the app.

If you are still stuck, message us on WhatsApp: support is available 24/7, and a photo of your screen speeds things up.

Setup: your questions

How long does setup take?

On most devices, a few minutes: install a player app, add your login and wait for the channel list to load.

Where do I get my login details?

We send them on WhatsApp, either for your free trial or after you buy a plan.

Can I use the same login on several devices?

Tell us which devices you want to use and we will explain the right setup for your home.

My TV is not listed. Will it work?

If it can install apps, it very likely will. If not, a streaming stick plugged into the HDMI port is the simplest fix. Send us the model and we will check.

The app asks for a MAC address. What do I do?

Some player apps identify your device by its MAC address. Send us a photo of that screen on WhatsApp and we will link your login to the device.
